Tanglin Orchid Gin, the first gin to be distilled in Singapore, has won the prestigious Silver Award at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC).
A Silver medal from SFWSC represents an outstanding spirit that shows refinement and finesse, as well as complexity. The winners are among the best examples of their categories.
There were more than 3,000 spirits judged this year, making it the largest number of entries in the SFWSC’s 19-year history.
Carrying out blind tastings to guarantee fairness with an esteemed judging panel from all over the world, the event has garnered an exceptional reputation among trade and consumers alike. This year there were over 40 judges split among tables and panels for category-specific tastings of spirits.
After launching in June 2018, the Orchid Gin earned a Silver medal at the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in November.
Tanglin has since expanded its offerings by releasing a new variant, Mandarin Chilli Gin, as well as a limited edition Cranberry Gin that was sold exclusively at Habitat by Honestbee for Christmas.
Tanglin Gin is Singapore’s first handcrafted Gin. Every bottle is created, bottled and labelled on the island.
Named after the neighbourhood in Singapore known historically as home to a variety of Spice plantations. Tanglin tells the stories of “the other side” of Singapore. Tanglin starts by challenging what people think they know. So, with Tanglin, you can always expect the unexpected. It’s the spirit distilled in the gin.
