NCADA’s Parents Seminar featured a panel discussion titled “Our children are more vulnerable to drug abuse today. What can we do as parents?”.
“The importance of parental guidance and support cannot be overstated,” said Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim (above), Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development, in his opening address.
“Parents are a high protective factor against permissiveness towards drugs. According to NCADA’s National Drug Perception Survey 2023, 95% of youths believe that their parents or family members would disapprove of them trying out drugs. Meanwhile, another 91% of the youths who had conversations with their parents about drugs and drug abuse said that these discussions had discouraged them from consuming drugs.”
Minister of State Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim urged parents to engage in timely, impactful conversations with their children about the dangers of drugs, emphasizing the importance of guiding them toward making positive life choices.
