Weekend Night Live is a production that takes you through hilariously absurd situations.
It explores different topics and situations, both old and modern, all with a Singapore context.
Inspired by the popular sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, Method Production’s 60-minute play triggers a rollercoaster of emotions, particularlry laughter and happiness.
The sets, props and costume designs are ingenuous and intricate. It transports you to different places, events and situations, sometimes even transcending eras.
The script is divided into five separate scenes and is inclusive of a 10-minute intermission with funny advertisements.
Conceived by director Kaelen Ong, the scenes are brought to life by Bethan Loh, Monil SJ, Nicole Hofbauer, Nicole Shaan, Steven Murphy and Tissher Tavamani.
The play opens with an episode from World War Two. A separated couple conveying news through a bird, who is splendid.
Spirits and ghosts has a modern spin, with the out-of-work ghouls seeking new ways to remain relevant.
Science lab is about concocting a new health product and advertising it, while rapping and coordinated dancing take centre stage in the next scene
Weekend Night Live ends with a cooking show, which will make you laugh out loud and keep you engrossed by the antics.
The audience (above) get to taste some nice cookies at the end!

“The goal is to spread the love for sketch comedy and, more importantly, create roles for actors, creators and performers from all walks of life, and give them a platform to share their stories and ideas.”
