SINGAPORE: Greenwood Fish Market will hold its first farmer ’s market on 18 November from noon to 5pm at its outlet in the lush enclave of Dempsey Hill.
The event hopes to provide customers with an opportunity to meet the passionate individuals behind each collaborating company – be it the restaurant’s very own suppliers or other locally grown start-ups.
“We love interacting with our customers and perhaps, really hopefully, we can say that they feel the same way too”, said David Lee, a consultant to the company’s fish family.
Inspired by the gastronomic Mercado de San Miguel and the colourful Portobello Market in London, expect to see an indoor bazaar of exclusive pop-up booths (with generous free samples too). Everyone, including pets, is invited to this community event.
Food & Wine
Gourmands might be interested in the delicacies of La Rustichella’s truffles or Anton Caviar with their Oscietran and Siberian specialities. The preservative-free products from Sidecart Sausage would also be a prominent addition to your gastronomic adventure.
For the wine connoisseur, sommeliers from Wine Concierge and Wein Depot will be generous with their wine tastings and stories of these vines. For those who would rather leave the alcohol for the evening, concoctions from Monin or Vittoria Coffee might do the trick instead (nothing beats the comforting pick-me-up of sugar and caffeine).
Fashion
Fashionistas may want to thread by the racks from WYLD which offers chic Australian products or Yeo Mama Batik – a label with a contemporary take on the traditional fabric. Feel free to chat with the bubbly owners themselves and be enraptured by how much their personality speaks through their brand.
Lifestyle
The Ikebana displays by our in-house florist, Fleurs & Buds, add on to the freshness and vibrance that is to be expected of any market. There’s even a section for furry companions, with elegant products from Maodian and Maomaowoof to pamper even your pets with the very best. A visit to our outdoor garden would have you greeted with fluffy companions – dogs up for adoption from Mercylight, all of whom are in need of a loving home.
There’s something wonderfully satisfying about eating foods from the sea – cracking through claw, slurping shell and savouring the freshest catch of the day. A retailer and family run restaurant serving fresh western-style seafood cuisine, Greenwood Fish Market has become a roll off the tongue household name within the Greenwood Avenue community. Established in 2003, the restaurant stays true to its humble beginnings of offering value to the table and is the go to destination for your seafood fix.
