Singapore beat Malaysia in U-16 opener

Singapore beat Malaysia by 29 runs in their opening Group B match at the Asian Cricket Council Under-16 Easter Region tournament in Chiang Mai on December 11.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat at the Prem Tinsulonanda International School ground, Singapore totalled 151-8 in 35 overs.

Pramesh Singhavi top-scored with 30 off 42 balls. Other useful contributions came from Arnav Wadhwa 24 (48), Sai Harsha Venugopal 21 (36) and Raoul Sharma 20 (12).

Malaysia’s Mohammad Afiq took 4-28.

In reply, Malaysia were bowled out for 122 in 25 overs.

Sandesh Supparamaniam hit 27 off 24 balls for them

Singapore’s main wicket-takers were Aiden Sherry (2-37), Raoul Sharma (2-20), Ishaan Sawney (2-16) and Ratik Bhatnagar 2-16.

Singapore next play Bhutan at the Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club ground on December 12.

Hong Kong U-16 253-4 in 35 overs. Myanmar U-16 41 all out in 17.2 overs. Hong Kong U-16 won by 212 runs.
Nepal U-16 179 all out in 34.4 overs. Thailand U-16 46 all out in 19.3 overs. Nepal U-16 won by 133 runs.
